Breakfast in Swatho - Two

I decided to wear one of my mum's stilettos. I wore a white T-shirt under a grey denim jacket, black baggy skirt and a grey bag. I went into the sitting room and gave my parents kisses. I was already at the door before mum noticed the shoe.

"What are you doing in my shoes?" She asked.

"Love you, mum. Bye!" I hurried out.

"Brenda!" I heard her scream.

I was walking down the corridor at school when a hand suddenly gripped my left wrist. I swiftly turned to the fellow and it was Tee.

"Hate, what's wrong with you?" I asked.

He wrinkled his face. "What did you just called me?"

I stuttered, "I said...I said...I..."

He laughed. "Oh, that's what you call me behind me, right?"

I shrugged. "Your palaver," I mumbled and made to go but he pulled me back. "You know, that's why I hate you most. You are good at frustrating me! Oh, hell, will you let me be?!"

"I'm not hell."

"Who cares if you are not? Let me be!"

He pulled me back and made me face him. I clenched my fist. 'Should I just stamp his foot with my heels?'

"I'll hit your face," I threatened.

"Before you do that, will you tell me the meaning of your reply to my message?"

I smiled mischievously. "You don't know?" I asked and he nodded in affirmation. "I am Brenda and you are Tee. Bread and tea make breakfast."

At first, he frowned, then raised a brow, then burst out in laughter. He did not laugh for long. I hit him on the face though it was not hard.

"Why did you do that?" He asked with curiosity sketched all over his face.

"I told you that I will hit your face and you asked me to postpone it till I tell you what you wanted to know and boy, I did."

He laughed. "Bread!"

"Insipid tea!" I returned as I walked away.
